BJP plays down Ministers meet
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, NOV. 25. The Bharatiya Janata Party does not see the
meeting of Ministers of State at the residence of Ms. Sumitra
Mahajan, two days ago to discuss their grievance related to lack
of enough work, as significant.
The party leaders today said it did not look like the dinner
meeting was planned to discuss the grievance, but it just
happened.
``Of course, if they do not have enough work, they should be
given work,'' Mr J. P. Mathur said.
As one senior Minister said in a lighter mode, ``how does it
matter if one or two more signatures are appended to each file.
After all, files are signed by everyone from the deputy secretary
upwards, why not allow the Ministers of State also put their
signatures before the file comes up to the Cabinet Minister?''
In any case, the matter is not being taken too seriously. All
that might happen is that the senior Ministers may be told to do
justice to their juniors, and the juniors may be asked not to
make a public issue of this.
