TTK Group chairman dead

CHENNAI, APRIL 25. Mr. T. T. Narasimhan, chairman of the TTK
Group, died this morning. He was 79.
The eldest son of former Union Finance Minister, Mr. T. T.
Krishnamachari, Mr. Narasimhan took charge of the family business
at the age of 19 and steered the company into a manufacturer of
pressure cookers and rubber contraceptives long before the
government conceived the population control programmes.
Affectionately called `TTN', he provided key support to the TTK
Group's social welfare activities like the Madras Voluntary Blood
Bank, education programmes and the TTK hospital for treating drug
addiction and alcoholism.
He is survived by his wife and two sons.
